Thanks to 1poorguy, Gus, and Jeffbrig for your input. Just got back from Pittsburgh, and I plan on doing some more research in the next few days. What you have shared is a big help and a huge headstart toward getting some underwater photos -- something I walked away from my last SCUBA trip without.

I will probably start small with a digicam until I figure out this whole photography thing, but as I get more experienced as a diver and as a photographer, I think I will upgrade. The problem that Gus mentioned about the non-responisve shutter is one that I have experienced on land, so I know that it will frustrate me with moving underwater subjects that won't listen to my commands.
