Thanks to everyone for the advice! I realize I have some more research to do before making any decisions in this area. Those two funds are certainly less appealing now than they were last week.

I'm going to look more into laddering CDs and individual bonds vice the bond funds. It seems like the obvious choice since I'd probably loose capital if I were to go with the funds.

I've only been investing beyond an index fund, and my home, since March when I sold my home. I've since been scrambling to learn how to best put the proceeds to work for me.

I've been tempted to just let a broker manage it for me. But that seems so boring! Not to mention expensive.
