That being said, I find this sort of thing very interesting.

I agree. It is interesting and can help to strengthen a testimony.

There's also a lot of chiasmas in the Book of Mormon, something Joseph Smith could not have had any clue about.

I have read a fair amount about chiasmus in the Book of Mormon. Not only is it found throughout the book, but some of the most extensive examples are found there. Usually chiasmus is only a verse or two however the entire chapter of Alma 36 is one extremely long example. Fascinating stuff.
