That is the way to prevent or minimize large tax increases on Gen X, Y and Z when the 'boomer generation quits working. It doesn't need to be about people starving in the streets.

So how about responding to the real issue?


But that is the real issue - social security is meant to prevent the elderly from living a life of abject poverty. It isn't meant to subsidize some additional luxuries for those who can already afford to retire. Social security is already means tested, from the way it is calculated in the first place, to the way it is taxed in certain cases, and it will be further means tested in the future. So will Medicare.
