That makes two votes for ordering her credit reports. Good advice. HOWEVER ... she already knows that she doesn't have credit (God only knows who told her this, but she is sure that it's true) so she's not even going to try. I'm hoping for reliable information I can give her that will maybe help her understand it's not true.

If it's free, maybe she'll order her credit reports - how do you find out if it's free or not?

She an ex-FIL bought and sold at least two houses while they were married and rented MANY more (he was military). Wouldn't it be extremely unusual for those loans to be only in his name? And if her name were on it, wouldn't she also be establishing credit? I asked her if "everything was in his name" and she said "no, but that was all credit as a couple". It's like she thinks there's THREE credit histories in a married. His, hers and theirs. That's not the way I understand it, but I could be wrong ...
