That said, does anyone have any insight that would explain why a company's very positive financial report would cause the stock price to take a dive?

Sure
Did the beat expected earnings?
Where earnings great, but outlook just ok?

Was some talking head just not that impressed?

Was this a case of buy on the rumor sell on the news.

It could have just been a case of "Who Knows"

I don't know much about the company

When I have insider info on my company it is a lot easier to say "OMG the Stock will Tank!" than it is to say "Good Lord it is going to go through the roof!"

That's why I don't have any money in my company's stock. I don't want to be tempted to exploit that information
