That seems to be the case with all New England states--growing up, the hour and a half from my house to UCONN was a huge amount of distance to put between me an my family. In Dallas, that is the morning fight with traffic. It is a weird sense of scale we grow up with.

I think that's true everywhere. Growing up, going to the next town was an all day trip there and back that we planned ahead for and only did a couple times a year. Now I realize it was a shorter distance than I go to visit local friends a couple times a month.
