That sounds like the best way to go, you'll be working/searching for 2 distinct family lines and it could get confusing otherwise.

I've got something like 48 first cousins. (Yes, on ONE side.) Confusion is standard. :-)

It's a good idea (in my opinion) to add the cause of death if you can find a person's death certificate...when you get a number of people listed it can be very revealing what, if any, illnesses run in your family.

Excellent thinking. I've been swapping info with someone (not really a relative, but a dozen generations back or so, we have an ancestor in common) who emailed me death certs on a couple relatives. Anybody know what "acute endocarditis" or "myocarditis" is? Given my known family history, I'm guessing "heart attack"?
