That was based on All Hands Volunteers before the merger - the bullets were intended to reflect the combined accomplishments of the two organizations, not necessarily the current status of the combined organization. Sorry if I caused any confusion.

If someone considered donating to this charity, why should they do it through TMF instead of directly themselves?

You are donating directly to the charity either way. TMF is simply providing a portal to All Hands & Hearts, not collecting the money and then making the donation itself. The give.fool.com page is simply recording the efforts of the Foolanthropy campaign. I will note that TMF is planning some bonus contributions should the $150k goal be met, so maybe that's a reason to go through give.fool.com.

Earned a Exemplory 4 out of 4 Star rating on Charity Navigator

Do you have link for that... because I believe you have misunderstood what you saw on Charity Navigator.

ICBW but AFAIK, there is no Charity Navigator rating yet for "All Hearts and Hands".

That's because All Hearts and Hands came about through a recent merger between Happy Hearts Fund (Charity Navigator - 3 stars) and All Hands Volunteers (Charity Navigator - 4 stars)

That all said... if you do that math, it infers that the combined organization could achieve a 4-star rating. And that's where my donation is headed 😊

In Arizona if you give to a "working poor" charitys without itemizing your taxes a individual can donate $400 and get a credit on the state of Arizona taxes. Ask your CPA for more details.

Disclosures: NOT A CPA

Gave $225 to St. Marys Food Bank Alliance in Phoenix, AZ which is a "working poor" charity.
