The answer to this is in the FAQ. If you sell ABC for a short term gain, that gain is first used to offset any short term loss. If you have no short term losses, or less than the short term gain, the extra short term gain is applied against long term losses. If there is more gain than that, you pay the tax. Since you are selling at a gain, there is no wash sale, and you can rebuy the stock the same day if you wish. Best wishes, Chris
