In the "Peanuts" comic strip, Charlie Brown's hero was Joe Shlabotnik, who played in the "Green Grass League." In honor of Joe, Charles Schulz, and the round-headed kid, my fantasy league is named the Green Grass League.

The point of this post is not really to brag on my league, or even my team. (After all, I'm currently in sixth place out of ten teams.) Actually, I mainly wanted to encourage those of you out there who have never played in a fantasy baseball league to give it a shot. There are lots of places around that offer free leagues. Mine is through CBS Sportsline (www.sportsline.com), but Yahoo also offers them, and I believe ESPN does, too.

The teams in my league are all run by family and friends, many of whom are hundreds of miles away. My cousin is in first place, my brother in second, and some nephews are right behind him. We talk trash, write up bogus news articles, trade players, and generally have a lot of fun with the whole thing. It's got me interested in baseball again.

I know a lot of you fans out there have your own leagues. For those of you who don't, you're really missing a lot of fun.
