The Countess reminds me that there is a difference between "Assisted Living" and a CCRC.

Also, like everything else, you get what you pay for, or more accurately, you pay for what you get. I see some CCRC's which want $400,000 buy-in plus $3500 a month (or more) for a 3-bedroom apartment.

I am slightly familiar with the Canterbury in Palos Verdes. I think it is an assisted living establishment, not a CCRC (There may be some overlap between assisted living and CCRC. Not sure.) It seems expensive to me, but then I am poor.
