Yesterday, I attended a funeral for a distant cousin. The pastor based his sermon on the poem "The Dash" by Linda Ellis. After the service, he suggested that we look it up on the internet. Sure enough, here it is--

This a favorite subject for discussion for those who do family tree search. Some merely record dates of birth and death for individuals in the family. But I for one feel strongly, that one should search out the whole story of that person if you can.

The poem does an excellent job of expressing the idea that "the dash" between is the zest of life.

Makes a good read.
