The debate was more substantive than just about any I can recall, and I would chalk that up to the light-handed moderation.I agree. I just remember the debate with the lights that would flash letting the participants know how long they had left (and I don't even remember if it was a primary or general election debate, or how long ago it was), that's obviously all I remember from the debate.Lehrer certainly didn't inject any partisanship into the debate, so that was a huge relief! But still he didn't do much of anything to keep it "on task" so to speak, they didn't even get to all of the topics that they were meant to cover. Not the end of the world, but I can see why there is criticism of his handling of it.
