The ex got home from his 9-day ski trip last night. He lives (soon to be past tense) with me (it's my house). So, he came home and asked me what I wanted him to do as far as living arrangements. I offered to let him use the extra bedroom until he finds a place. He brought me back a bottle of wine from Quebec. So, now we'll both be there at night, although there is plenty of room to avoid each other if we feel the need for that. Hopefully, that won't be the case

You're not serious. He needs to pack his stuff and move. Immediately. Where he lives is not your problem and letting him stay with you is just going to make things worse for you in the long run. He should have been finding a place instead of skiing for 9 days and the fact that he thinks this is ok speaks volumes. Tell him to get a hotel room, go live with friends, his mother, on the street, whatever. Just get him out of your house.
