The fact of the matter is that is not true at all. As a proportion of income, the poor pay more in taxes. Not in income taxes, but all taxes. This started under Reagan, when the top rates were lowered, state and local communities had to scramble. Leaving out income taxes plays into a cynical ploy that they are separate issues, when the truth is the socio-economic-behavioral impact is based on the total burden.

I love the way you libs try to have your cake and eat it too.

You want the feds to make up for the "inequalities" in state/local tax laws to be fair, while arguing elsewhere that tax laws (and other issues such as right to work legislation) between, say, California and Texas aren't important.

Do try to keep up. This thread is about FEDERAL TAXES. The inequalities in state taxes are irrelevant. Asking the federal government to punish the rich to make up for state tax issues is asinine. We aren't addressing it because it's not worth addressing, it's beyond irrelevant. If some poor schmuck doesn't like their tax situation in their city/state then have a pretty clear option: MOVE.

Take Detroit for example. Libs love to blame anything and everything but decades of liberal monopoly there for the woes that have befallen the city. However, they NEVER cite one important fact: Detroit levies a city income tax, which is practically unheard of elsewhere in the state. Hell, there are only a handful of cities that do that (not even Ann Arbor does it!) If you live or work in the city you pay that tax. Yet the city is beyond broke. Why? NOBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WANTS TO LIVE OR WORK THERE! Especially since they have to PAY EXTRA for the honor of living/working in a crime-ridden hellhole run by the most corrupt libtards in existence!

What Republican (or even conservative) is charging the poor souls in Detroit more in taxes? There isn't one, there isn't a conservative that has held any position in Detroit (not even dog catcher) since the 60's! You want the feds to raise taxes on the rich in Oakland County to make up for the poor in Detroit having to pay higher taxes? Bulls**t! Clean up YOUR ideological house! YOU guys are the problem!
