The feds have mandated since 1996 that all gasoline contain a minimum amount of detergent. It is possible that some gasoline companies will put more detergent in the premium grade, but unsure if any do.Use the grade of gasoline that the manual specifies. Higher octane only prevents knocking, it doesn't give extra power.Toto2, you could need a tuneup as others have suggested. Or it could be a fuel mixture sensor that is defective. I had this problem. Keep using higher octane gas until you can have a mechanic look at it.I don't use any of the cheaper brands that have alcohol in it. It lowers fuel efficiency and may buildup carbon deposits on the fuel injectors. It also absorbs water.I always try to go to stations that sell alot of gas. The high turnover of the tanks prevent a buildup of water. Also, I avoid station where the tanker is filling up the underground storage tanks. The gasoline going in the tanks stirs up the water and dirt that have settled out. I don't want to be pumping that into my car's tank.-PSU
