The first 3 months after retirement, all sorts of weird memories, dreams, emotions bubbled up to the surface.

Here too. I've had vivid and strange dreams. Starting shortly before I gave notice at the end of December I've dreamed repeatedly of new starts, moving into new homes with more room and nice views -- most of these new homes need some remodeling, things like new paint and curtains, carpeting, floor sanding but managable stuff. I hadn't made a direct connection to impending retirement but I'm glad to have that connection pointed out.
