The information missing from your post is whether the child provides more than half his own support. If he does he's not a qualifying child and also fails the tests for a qualifying relative dependent. If he doesn't he is a qualifying child dependent.Thanks for clarifying the issue for me, Phil. My sense is the son is providing somewhat more than half of his support, but I can't be sure. I'll ask his mother run some numbers to determine whether she or her son is providing the greater amount for his support.Again, thank you for your help.
