The last major one in Europe was the sinking of a ferry ship when the auto door broke open in heavy seas and took on water.

We hear news reports of quite a few ferry sinkings in Asia. Perhaps as many as one every two years.

You are comparing apples with oranges. A ferry is not a cruise ship and a cruise ship is not a ferry!

BTW - I am unaware of any cruise ship run by a major carrier that transports cars - and therefore has an "auto door".
