The link that was provided is not the easy way to deal with the "which play is cheapest" question. To the extent you want the cheapest total cost plan, go to the site and use their tool. Since the tool must be plan neutral, you are forced to pick between regular medicare part D plans and Advantage plans which also cover drugs.

There is one "gotcha" in using the medicare wizard. It only uses the Plans words, so total year's costs may be for "Preferred" or "Select" pharmacies. What you need to look for is not does your favorite pharmacy take the XYZ plan, but is your pharmacy a "Select" or "Preferred" pharmacy with plans you are considering. Another approach to deal with the pharmacy issue is go to the website for the XYZ plan and check out pharmacies by zip code.
