The most important job my son ever did was in university research. After he spent an undergraduate summer of chopping off rats' heads, he decided to become an MD. Research was definitely out. Research can be some pretty nasty and boring stuff (depending where you are in the food chain).

The only person who is at the top of the food chain is the person who's name listed first on the paper. Everybody else is just a peon. 'course, that's how it is with every job, isn't it?
