The Motley Fool boards are a sounding board for our own opinions and ideas - if you like what you hear then start investigating. Don't ever buy on another's "say so" without thorough study on the potential investment. None of us are paid experts - some are wiser than others. We are all responsible for our own final investment decisions here.

There are many who try to "hype" their favorites, mostly penny stocks. More than not, I think penny stocks are a real gamble.

Through the years I have become a more conservative investor as I see most of my profits have come from good quality value stocks that have been around for a while.

My tech stocks are dead money for the next year or two, IMO. On the other hand, stocks like XOM, JCI and WAG have continued to move up on a regular basis, and dividends have increased yearly.
