The name of the game is to destroy the hitter's timing. Greg Maddux did that all the way to the HOF and he didn't throw any harder than you did.


Yes, but unless you can convince the scout you're the next Greg Maddox (LOL), he's probably not going to pay attention to you unless you have "great stuff", typically meaning a very good fastball.

They look for velocity on the fastball. Speed can not be taught. They figure if you have that, they can teach you the rest....various pitches, control, etc.

Yes, some people can make it with off-speed pitches alone, but they are few and far between.
