The NEC Agreement is nothing more than an offshoot of the Hitachi agreement. If NEC didn't go for it, then Sega Dreamcast would once again be threatened by a potential lawsuit.

It also very suspeciuos that Rambus pulled out of the JDEC the at the same time Dell lost their suit. That loss may have been a clear indication to Rambus that it could not be a member of the JDEC AND sell IP back to the members of the JDEC without loosing in court like Dell.

It is a shame that our legal system isn't faster in cases like this because there are a lot of people that would like to know what the US courts are going to say about it.

One thing is certain. This is an all or nothing play for both sides. If Rambus wins, everyone will have to fall in line. If they lose, do you really think the people that have signed up are going to pay their royalties?
