the NEW contribution limit starting next year is $3000 instead of $2000, right?

Right. I was just looking at Publication 590 (downloadable .PDF version) from the IRS web site ( earlier today, and, yes, the limit for 2002 is $3,000, or $3,500 if you will be 50 or older in 2002.

Ready to write that check!...

I know what you mean--I have already saved up that $3,000 for January.

Remember, you can't make your Year 2002 Roth IRA contribution before January 1, 2002.
