The only advantage I can think of is this - if you really must buy something that can't wait without serious harm - wall knocked down on your house, medicine for seriously ill family member - and you cannot get a conventional loan, then would it be better to be in debt to the credit card company for awhile than to not have the medicine, etc? Slightly off-topic, but what has absolutely NO moral basis, in my opinion, are the short-term "payday" loans. They're even worse than credit cards.
