The only automaker I ever invested in was Honda. The rationale at the time was that Honda was a dominant and innovative worldwide brand and the stock seemed very undervalued, sporting a single digit P/E. It paid an adequate dividend and had a relatively sound balance sheet. I made some money on it but sold out too early.

Good luck with the Chinese and their appetite for electric cars! Perhaps it's worth considering how Berkshire Hathaway did, and Charlie Munger in particular, dipping a toe into these shark invested waters.
