The only thing it means is that Ms. Watson is a fool.

She's been saying (and doing) stupid stuff like this for a LONG time... and has been relected time and time again. So who is the bigger fool... Ms. Watson or the people who keep electing her?

One could ask the same about John Conyers (or his wife before she was thrown in the slammer) or Kwame Kilpatrick or his mother or really almost any elected official in Detroit over the last 50 years. It's easier to list the people who haven't been crazy/stupid/etc. over that timeframe (Dennis Archer comes to mind as one of those rare exceptions).

The electorate reaps what they sow. Odds are either Detroit will go bankrupt or it will be dissolved into Wayne County. Perhaps both. But the status quo isn't feasible.
