I don't know if it is intentional or on purpose, but at least in articles about options for novices they only speak of buying options, never of writing them. Options don't come from option heaven, to trade options someone has to take the sell side but they are ignored in writing for novices. Here is a sample from Investopedia:

They talk about "trading" but the only trades mentioned are buys. I have my pet theory: The Establishment needs suckers to buy the options! After pondering the options issue for years I've come to the conclusion that selling is the better half of the deal.
