The Perfect Car - well, it may not exist, however the closest relatively cheap and most versatile vehicles for my purposes at this time happen to be the large GM station wagons made from 1977 to 1990.

Often known as Estate Wagons, these spacious vehicles are capable of hauling three people plus full size sheets of plywood and/or drywall when the rear seats are down or up to eight full size people when the rear seats are up while getting approximately 20 (17-26) mpg. on the highway and are heavy enough (over two tons) and strong enough (iron V-8 engines) to tow anything I might care to tow as well as being relatively safe in the event of an accident.
