The point of writing effectively is to make "valid stuff" clear and accessible and fluid reading while fully retaining accuracy.

Oh, the writing style is all of the above ...... likely due to Patrick J. Skerrett's input. However, the typeface is very small .....at least 1/3rd the size of Pollan's "In Defense of Food" for instance. It also lacks the interjections of quotes from random folk ......a style that seems to be favoured by Taubes, Andrew Weil etc. and even Katz (which actually suits me to no end, but I assume those who go for this sort of scene setting do it for a reason)

It's quite unusual these days to come across books in the mainstream that are so close to reading a textbook WRT number of words on a page.
