The record date doesn't matter. If you buy $2000 of companyX you will own $2000 of companyX. If it is at $100/share pre split you have 20 shares. If it splits 2:1 you now have 40 shares at $50 per share. If you own it before it splits, your shares split. If you buy it after they split your shares don't. You get what you pay for...It's that simple.In your case if you buy now, your shares still split on 6/3.-MarkV
