The ruben sounds good, I'll have to give it a go... maybe I'll see if I can find some fake pastrami to use. I'm alright with eating butter and cream, and even though crisco is vegetarian I don't think I could bring myself to eating it. But I bet just using a traditional biscuits and gravy recipe and just substituting fake sausage might turn out good... I haven't made any attempts to vegetarianize either of these foods yet, but I get the craving for them frequently so I'll have to try something.

I am not vegetarian, however, I make a Ruben sandwich that I would call vegetarian. I use good homemade rye bread, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, sliced tomato and a dressing, french. I then grill it. I think it is outstanding.

For biscuits and gravy, I don't think there is a substitute. I make gravy using butter and I make biscuits using crisco and I don't know if either of these items are against vegetarianism. Oh, to make my gravy appear to be sausage gravy I use spices in it that you would find in sausage, sage, etc.
