The SI Jinx is nothing more than a statistical phenomenon. It's a real thing. But it's not a "jinx". Very high performers whether in sports, stock market forecasting, etc usually ride these waves of temporary extraordinary success with a very nice combination of skills and luck. The skills remain with you but after a certain amount of time, given that luck is random, it leaves you. Then you play well but nowhere as well as you did which brought about your appearance on the cover of SI. It's nothing more than the statistical phenomenon called regression to the mean. Doesn't mean that Kaepernick WILL play less spectacularly here on out. But many SI Cover people do.
