I find, as a dedicated watcher, that the Simpsons can creep into ordinary life and have an effect, almost subliminal when displayed.

For the last few weeks, my woman has been muttering a phrase (and by "muttering" I mean "shouting in the backyard at the dog"). She will do some random outdoor activity, like pull a weed, then yell "Now I'm queen of the summer!"

I've asked her why she does it. She doesn't know. Like squirting the dog with the hose, it's just fun.

But it's always bothered me...tickling something in my brain. A seinfeld line? Something Jack Black said? I picture a squeaky voice saying it, but have a block after that. But I've heard it. Somewhere.

Last night, Fox runs the pool episode, where Bart breaks his leg. I'm watching the episode, and Martin is getting his pool built. I sit up in bed, driven by an elemental force. He utters a line: "Now I'll be queen of the summer! Uh, I mean, King."

I point to my wife, as she looks on in horror.

She has used a Simpsons line subconciously, repeatedly.

Her journey to the dark side is nearly complete.
