The Time Warner Cable system in Kansas City appears to be freaking out about the rollout of Google Fiber, and for obvious reasons. Google Fiber puts the Time Warner Cable offering to shame. It's their own damned fault! People have been screaming for years to get better connections. (And better power, and better phone, etc.) But the cable companies just sat back, unwilling to upgrade their systems (as utilities are unwilling to upgrade theirs). We sent them our monthly checks because the alternative was doing without. Only a huge entity could shake that up (e.g. government). Well, one non-governmental one finally showed up (i.e. Google).I hope TW and Cox and Century Link are peeing their pants. Now if we can just get someone to wake up the utilities to upgrade their grids/systems so a downed powerline doesn't black-out the entire northeast (again). But I'm not holding my breath. It will take a huge entity coming in to scare the pee out of them, if that's even possible.Though $70/mo is a bit steep. Though if that replaced cable, internet AND phone for that one fee, it would be worth it.1poorguy
