The whammy goes further than that. With hotel occupancy in the outlying areas probably through the roof, room rates will be higher, supply and demand right or wrong. Outright profiteering isn't allowed in most states minimum and maximum room rates have to be posted clearly in the room (but I can't say that is the case in ALL states). I know it is in Texas. Then the price of gasoline to travel. You're getting bled dry in all directions, your cashflow negative and even if your debt load was limited to your mortgage - if your job is under water and you're not getting paid, well it doesn't take long to get dug into a deep hole fast.

I've heard it said over and over again, most Americans are 30 to 60 days to being on the street. I don't know how I survived through 2004, but somehow I got the ends to connect.
