There is a reason those unlisted REIT prospectuses are so long.....

When the local newspaper ran an article on the consequences of being talked into investing in these unlisted REITs, an 'advisor' from LPL (one of the larger promoters of the unlisted REITs) took exception to the flavor of the article, and on the newspaper's blog site, wrote "...we always encourage our clients to read the prospectus carefully..."

Kinda ads some new zing to the old principle "caveat emptor'
