There is one thing for which STRIPS can be well suited that you don’t mention, and that is that they can be excellent trading vehicles. The instrument is liquid, so it’s easy to get in and out of, and serious money can be made if they are bought before interest-rates drop and then sold. Liquidity is great. Can they be shorted?
