There's nothing that says kids can't take the ACT/SAT earlier than their junior year. My kids took it first in 8th grade through the Duke TIP program and I've had them take it once a year since then.I think it not only gets them comfortable with the test and testing process, but shows them what areas they may want to work on (due to low scores).I can happily say my daughter (who is now a junior) has increased her ACT every time she has taken it. The same can be said for my son, a freshman.OBTW - I heartily agree that rigourous course work is crucial to the college application process. Somewhere in this thread I read that kids can go to private schools at about the same price as state U and from what we've found in this process it is true, that is as long as you have a good ACT/SAT score and good class rank (for merit scholarships).Thanks... spr
