This FTC is part of the same administration in which its FCC - just this past year - allowed the largest telecom merger ever to go through with few conditions - AT&T's acquisition of BellSouth. Just last year this same FCC - to very little notice or fanfare and for reasons that few outside the industry understand (I am inside), this same FCC allowed the 2 giant competitors - the old long distance AT&T and MCI to be bought each by a different Bell company (SBC-AT&T, Verizon-MCI). It's a screaming scandal and hardly to be believed. They let Humpty Dumpty get back together again. Unbelievable! The Department of Justice advocated nearly no conditions for last year's mergers and NO CONDITIONS (unprecedented) for this years. And this very same administration thinks WFMI and Wild Oats is a deal to be stopped? Not only is something fundamentally wrong - there is NO WAY these 2 different approaches can be squared under ANY public policy or antitrust analysis.Un-effing-believable.MsPepperTelecom Regulatory Lawyerarmchair antitrust lawyer
