this is one of the things I am considering - but DW does not
feel comfortable with that approach. She wants to have someone to
talk to about the funds and income and she does not seem
at ease without a regular contact.


Vanguard has advisors. I don't know if they are "personal" enough to suit your wife.

Maybe Chuck might be good. I think Schwab is honest and reliable, and definitely has one-on-one advisors.
