This is why Gates and Co. are so hated. They aren't anticompetitive. They are HYPERcompetitive.Oh, B.S. Gates and Co. are hated because techie culture places value on the better mousetrap. It's what drives constant refinement and invention. Gates is seen as having made his money pushing shoddy implementations of outdated concepts, and at the same time using his market position to crush superior technologies that threatened his monopoly. Both are capital crimes in the minds of nerds.People might complain about Microsoft's software prices, but they forget that Microsoft significantly undercut competitors. Good and appropriate use of the past tense. For this is no longer true. The graph of the prices of Windows 3.1, Win95, Win 2000, WinXP looks sorta like the NASDAQ bubble--without the crash.
