This non-techie sincerely appreciates the above responses!

If I understand correctly the preferred approach -- and feel free to correct me if I am wrong -- would be to convert the my CD's directly to .wav file format on my computer. This will allow my smart TV to take full advantage of its 5.1 soundbar system.

What I need now is a little more clarification on how to rip the CD's into my Windows Media Player Library (Windows 7 - Home Premium) using the wav format. My hard drive has more than enough space so that should not be a factor.

In exploring capabilities of WMP there seems to be no direct way to do this and that I will need an auxiliary software program to do the ripping. Am I correct?

If so, do you folks have a preferred program?

Norm (who apologizes for being such a "greenie")
