This story is a joke. Brian Burke has nothing to do with the fact that there are no Ontario born players on the roster. The blame has to go to the GM's that were running the Leafs before Burke.

Burke was hired in late 2008, so he had nothing to do with the draft picks that were made before that date. Check out the link below to see what was drafted before Burke came in:

2008: 0 OHL players
2007: 1 OHL player
2006: 0 OHL players
2005: 1 OHL player
2004: 0 OHL players
2003: 1 OHL player

Since Burke was hired, this is what the Leafs have picked:

2011: 4 OHL players
2010: 2 OHL players
2009: 4 OHL players

Burke on average has drafted 3.67 OHL players per year, which is a higher number than what the Leafs have drafted in TOTAL in the 6 years prior to his hiring.

That's why this story is a joke. Burke has done more to get Ontario born players on the Leafs in the past decade than any other Leafs GM. Is Cherry upset that Burke is developing his players within the organization and not making Milbury-like trades to get more Ontario born players on the ice quicker?

Cherry needs to take some Cold FX and take a deep breath.
