This was a link inside the link from tconi. It sounds like more of a hassle than I could imagine. They will want proof and I don't know how I can get that. I don't have any of that information and don't really think I can get much except the funeral home.

Lindy, my condolences to you on your loss.

When Mom had her stroke and I had to fly in without notice, American simply asked me what hospital and doctor she was using. They probably called a nurse to confirm she was there. This was in friendlier skies when the airlines were not out to suck your blood, but they were very good to me then. Probably all you need to do is give them the name and number of the funeral home. The are no doubt used to handling this.
