Thypeace...since these banner headlines first came out, I've read plenty of commentary..... some in the form of peer review from academics and others intended for us more lowly mortals..... with a similar take to yours. Really, there isno other take if you've read the actual study, right?

Even so, I'm STILL seeing the same "Counting calories is NOT key to weight loss" nonsense on my Google feed..... the exact same cut and paste job on the initial press release as the NYT's reporter cobbled together!!

You wouldn't expect much better from, say, The Mail online, but folk do tend to have more faith in NYT's sciency stuff.... incorrectly, as it turns out. And not for nothing, the actual results and conclusions etc. are waaay more interesting than the attention grabbing headlines.
