http://tinyurl.com/387cdfThe above link is to a Napa Valley Register article titled, "NRA defeats Congressional bid to allow greater access to crime gun data"This was an important victory for gun rights advocates and law enforcment! Democrats twice tried to kill this Appropriations Bill rider which restricts BATFE gun trace data to Law Enforcement Agencies for investigations only... they failed both times.Bloomberg and the Brady Campaign have been stopped from gaining access to this data. They claimed they wanted to protect the ability of law enforcement to access this data... which is of course a lie. They wanted access so they could sue gun dealers into oblivion! The Fraternal Order of Police supported Tiahrt, which led Bloomberg to call the FOP a "fringe organization." So, who is really anti-law enforcement eh? If Tiahrt had been defeated, ANYONE would have had access to this data! This gun trace data is law enforcement sensitive information... releasing it to anyone could jeopardize investigations AND investigators!
