Ticks come out early spring. They seem to be more active in the spring and fall. I can tell by the amount that end up on my two miniature schnauzers. I've never had a tick problem on the trail though. Wednesday we were innundated with black flies. They won't be around much longer though.

Now I need to plan a back packing trip. I didn't get out last year for an over nighter which totally bummed me out. I'm thinking maybe the Carter range in the Whites. I'll be able to bag some more 4Ks for my goal of hiking all 48 of them in NH.
